The Department of Agricultural & Biological Engineering at Mississippi State University invites applications for a faculty position (assistant or associate professor) in the area of biological/biomedical engineering. The position will be approximately 50% teaching and 50% research with a tenure track, 9-month appointment. Applicants should have a commitment to excellence in teaching and to making significant contributions in research. Senior applicants should have an established track record of research, teaching, and external funding. Junior applicants should articulate a research program that has promise for external funding, sustainability, and national recognition. The search is open to candidates whose research and expertise include any aspect of biological/biomedical engineering, including, but not limited to, advanced manufacturing, health disparities, robotics, cell and tissue engineering, neural engineering, biomaterials, cardiovascular system/disease, biomechanics and mechanobiology, prosthetics and orthopaedics, medical devices and robotics, multiscale modeling, impact mechanics, human ergonomics, biocomputing and computational modeling (esp. fluid dynamics). Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Candidates will be expected to teach in the Biomedical Engineering and Biological Engineering curricula, conduct research, and advise undergraduate and graduate students. They must establish a strong record of research, teaching, and service.
Minimum Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Biological or Biomedical Engineering or equivalent in a closely related discipline, as well as excellent verbal and writing skills, are required. Applicant must have a strong commitment to teaching excellence, scholarly production, and grantsmanship and should have the ability to conduct multi-disciplinary collaborative research. Rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
