Overview / Responsibilities Wood is currently seeking a Mid-Level Hydrogeologist to join our team in Phoenix, Arizona. The Senior Hydrogeologist will be responsible for supporting Hydrogeology specific business opportunities and operations.
Key Responsibilities •Work with a hydrogeology team on complex geologic / hydrogeological investigations •Provide technical expertise, as well as support and oversee hydrogeological designs, proposals, preliminary engineering and other reports •Manage and evaluate data •Conduct reviews and seal technical reports prepared my mid-level and junior staff •Manage large-scale Remedial Investigations (RI) and Feasibility Studies (FS) •Knowledge of Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act of 1980 (CERCLA) and the processes for site investigations, remedial alternative studies, and work plan implementations •Understanding of and experience with remediating sites in the Arizona Water Quality Assurance Revolving Fund (WQARF) Program as it pertains to sites contaminated with chlorinated solvents, metals and free product (LNAPL & DNAPL) •Interpret geologic, hydrogeologic, and environmental data •Mentoring and supervising mid-level and junior Geologists and Hydrogeologists •Coordinate with project management teams and other discipline leads to manage project deliverables, ensuring schedule and budget are achieved •Mentor junior staff •Identify and develop new business opportunities in the field of hydrogeology and support the technical component of business development materials •When required, work collaboratively with other departments, environmental regulators and AMEC offices on project related work •Oversee and conduct a wide variety of hydrogeological assessments and groundwater resource development projects which may involve: water rights transfers and applications, litigation support, and groundwater sustainability •Participate in Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Policies, Procedures, Standards and Guidelines in the execution of all work
Skills / Qualifications •Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Geological Engineering, or other related discipline •6+ years relevant experience (preferably with hydrologic investigations in Arizona & Southwestern United States) •Is an Arizona Registered Professional Geologist (PG) or is able to obtain Arizona Registration as a PG within 2 years •Demonstrated experience in project management including budget, schedule and deliverable performance •Demonstrated experience writing successful proposals, work plans and conducting business development is mandatory •Degree coursework focus on hydrology, hydrogeology, environmental geology, process geomorphology, and applied mathematics •Demonstrated knowledge of Earth materials, structures and processes, including degree coursework in sedimentology, stratigraphy, and structural geology •Demonstrated experience conducting hydrogeologic analyses, including development of geologic cross-sections, groundwater gradient calculations, groundwater flow diagrams, groundwater flow assessments, and fate and transport modeling •Strong written and verbal communication skills with technical writing experience •Soil and groundwater investigation and sampling experience •In-depth knowledge of drilling and well construction techniques •In-depth knowledge of aquifer testing •In-depth knowledge of common techniques for interpretation of hydrogeologic and geochemical data •Hands on use of field equipment •Preferred but not required: ?Proficiency with ARC-GIS, Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Access, VISUAL MODFLOW, MODFLOW-SURFACT, Groundwater Vistas ?Experience with water rights transfers and applications, and litigation support ?Experience with mine and coal fired power dewatering and plant, and coal combustion residual (CCR) compliance programs •Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
